What is FisherSolve™?

FisherSolve is a Decision Support Tool that assists pulp and paper companies in:

  • Comparing and analyzing the competitive position of every major pulp and paper mill in the world



  • Evaluating opportunities to improve mill performance and in analyzing the likely impact on each mill of trends in the world economy and in the paper industry



Which mills are included in FisherSolve?

We include mills in all countries making 50 TPD or more of pulp, recycled fiber, paper, tissues, packaging, newsprint and specialty products (regardless of how many machines may make up the 50 TPD). If a client indicates the importance of a specific mill making less than 50 TPD, we may add it to FisherSolve.

While FisherSolve contains information on some converting operations located inside paper mills, it does not now include independent converting operations.

How often does Fisher update mill information?

Fisher updates each mill on a schedule determined by the mill's Priority Rating. The more important the mill, the more often the update. Minimum update frequencies range from six months to 15 months. The actual time between updates for any given mill, however, may be less because Fisher does interim updates when either client feedback indicates a possible error or a mill is known to be making changes.

Fisher Logic™ cost-of-production updates are produced once a quarter. Updates include a complete mass-and-energy re-balance of every mill as well as updates of exchange rates and the prices of all cost inputs. This means that every Fisher Logic update takes into account all the changes to grades, production rates, furnishes, fuels, rebuilds, etc. entered during the quarter.

What support does Fisher provide under contract?

  • Technical Support: You can contact Fisher for help installing FisherSolve or for advice on using FisherSolve software or with questions about FisherSolve data. There is no additional cost for technical support.



  • Strategic Support: Our team of Solution Utilization Specialists ("SUS") is available to help use FisherSolve to accomplish business objectives, both strategic and tactical. Our SUS' are experienced industry professionals with a deep understanding of FisherSolve as a tool. There is no additional cost for standard advice from our SUS team.



  • Data Quality Response Service: We feel strongly about achieving a high level of data quality. Our Research Department will attempt to verify any question or concern you may have about data in FisherSolve. You can contact us via the "Tell Fisher" menu choice at the top of your screen or by phone, fax or email. We will respond to you directly with our findings. There is no additional cost for the service.



What additional services can Fisher provide?

  • Training: Fisher offers a variety of courses, from introductions to FisherSolve to power user training, to specially designed courses that certify people to be FisherSolve trainers. Please consult with your Fisher representative regarding training program options and costs.



  • Extended SUS Support: Our SUS team can use FisherSolve to do analysis and produce reports for you, acting as an extended member of your staff at additional cost.



  • Consulting: Our consulting staff can define and execute projects that require research and analysis. We do projects in support of mergers and acquisitions, product development, new market entry, and other strategic and tactical tasks. Please contact your Fisher International representative to discuss your business needs confidentially.



  • Integration: One of FisherSolve's strengths is that it can help you analyze and report on all of your existing data, not just that which Fisher supplies you. For example, your forecasts, sales data, call reports, proposals, competitive information and/or technical data could be linked to FisherSolve to create additional value. Please consult with a Fisher representative if you have an interest in identifying opportunities to use your data with FisherSolve.
